Oh well, its just an expensive HUGE window - they can earn the money to pay for it. Hopefully by the time they are in college I will have a new one...

My princess insisted on getting a Snow White costume for Halloween (yet today was her school party and she is a mermaid - what happened?) and the second she got it on, she ran to the fridge, grabbed an apple, and dropped dead on the floor. At first I didnt even get what was going on, then it all clicked. She was poisoned!!! Oh know!

Ya, she thought she was pretty funny....and she was.

Santa Cruz!!!

We love the BEACH!!!! We took the kids to Santa Cruz and all they wanted to do was play at the beach. Even though the Boardwalk was filled with every kind of carnival ride possible. There is something about nature that is so captivating...especially seeing live dolphins!

We love Kate! This is my brother Nates girlfriend and one of our favorite people.

Aleesa and I have been buddies since Ricks College. We got extra close at BYU where we both studied Social Work, worked at the Utah Boys Ranch together and had our first babies 2 days apart.

Many years later, and I adore this woman even more. She has become one of my cherished friends and deepest confidants. This last summer we got to go to Education Week at Ricks College (I just cant bring myself to call it BYU-I yet...) and had a wonderful time! Her mother and sister treat me like family and I just loved the trip.

Going on a vacation, sleeping in a hotel, eating whatever I want and not having to do dishes, and going to classes that uplift you and make you strong - one of the best girl trips ever!

My dear little sweet heart decided that she "didnt want the pony tail in anymore..." Easy as that - she chopped off 13 inches of long gorgeous bland hair about 3 inches from the top! YIKEES!!!!! I was heart broken. I was so wanted to donate it all the locks of love, but that will wait for another time.

I called my dear friend Alicia in a panic and so she saved me! She cut the rest and taught me how to do "girl hair." What a shock it was to have it all gone but we still love her cute face!

From now on the scissors will be locked up, but thank you Alicia for your amazing skills!

We just love our piano teacher. Chelle does so many things with the boys, including having them play for seniors to uplift their day. They were dancing along with the boys and one gentleman sang for us at the end in a beautiful barratone voice. What a treat for us!

We love to sit in our living room and watch FHV (Funniest Home Videos). I did it with my family when I was a little girl and my kids love it, so the tradition carry's on.

The kids always wants snacks and my Dallin is such a "server" meaning he gathers all the food and lays it out so neat and special, like we are at the movies! Just love this time with the kiddo's...

I actually made it to my 5 mile mark!!! I didn't think I could ever do it. Thank goodness for my IPOD that speaks to me while I run. I am a HUGE fan of the NIKE shoe insert that is your personal workout coach. Works so awesome!!!

The funny thing is, Mike bought it for me two years ago and I have never opened it until now. What was I thinking? Love that thing.....

But after a little prodding I decided to jump the gun and do it - YIKES! I am not sure if I can but I am going to try! I successfully finished my first week of training: 3 mile run, 2 mile run, rest, then 4 mile run! I think this might be fun????.....

Miss our KC...

How how we miss our KC...in December we had a very sad accident and she was taken from us. I had no idea how much I could fall in love with a dog - but my heart was just devastated. Our kids were so upset that they couldn't go to school for days and we just cried and cried. She truly was part of our family.

We miss her running up to us when we would walk in the door, or parking out the window as the boys would walk to their classrooms. We are so grateful we took that leap and let her into our home because she filled us with happiness! This experience really helped our children get a deeper appreciation for the Atonement - that not only heals sin but pain and hurt that swells with in you. One of the most tender moments was to watch Mikey after hearing the news of her death, fall to his knees and pray to his Heavenly Father. I am so grateful that he knows where to turn for his peace.

We made a special box for her and buried her right by our garden so we can think of her always. The kids cried through it but it was so good for them.

Now we are saving our pennies and can't wait to buy another Yorkie - we miss you so much KC!!!

Well I can't say that I do - but the rest of my crew does! Mike got a chance to take my boys snow boarding recently while Karly and I had a girls day.

Mikey was gone from him most of the day and got pretty cold! Poor thing even got some frostbite on his wrists - has pretty good little scares now too. He went again the next chance he got so apparently it didn't bother him too bad...

Dallin and Joey are still learning and did a great job keeping their heads up. Especially after Mike found old feet warmers inside Joey's boots and realized thats why he was crying that his feet hurt. Once those were out he rode for 4 more hours. Poor thing!

Love my boys and my hubby for hanging out with them so much. Yahoo for snow!

Karlys Preschool Bag

So Karly needed a bag for preschool that was NOT a back pack - teachers rules. We could buy one from her for $10 but I was for sure I could create something for free. So I went home and dug under by bed to see what bags I had collected. I found one with a logo on it, so I grabbed some old material and created a square and tied the ends to make knots of fringe. Then I found a old iron on patch I had never used (got from the dollar store) and sewed it to the center!

Easy Squeezy! She felt like she was unique and her teacher loved her new bag! And the best part was I paid $0!!!!!!

TREATS FROM THE GARDEN...

I didn't get to blog about my garden this year, sadly it slipped away from me. Mike used cinderblock to create a huge 40 foot by 6 foot strip for me - and I loved it! Each year we are getting better at this HOME EC thing. For sure we ruined our lettuce and beans, but my carrots, and tomatoes rocked the house!

After four months - it is finally competed. Well, sort of. Enough for her to start playing with it. I still have lights, decor, and little things I will add along the way - but for now she gets it!
I stayed up until 3 am getting it finally ready and when she saw it in the morning she didn't know what to expect. She just said "Oh! How Cute!!!". But we aren't really girly in our house so none of us knew what to do then! All the boys had sooo much fun helping with it all these months and were thrilled to watch her play in it. Now - each day I hear her quietly in her room just playing for hours with her dolls. I just love that princess...

The top was the idea of the boys, to keep it flat and add a playground there. SO its hard to see but there is grass, a playground, and garden for her to play in. This room matches her own room, the same paint, colors and fabrics. The doggy resembles our little KC that we lost last month and the fence is just like the one she has over her bed.

This bathroom is not quite finished. Mikey picked out all the colors here. We couldn't find the shower but are still searching every store to get it! I tried to build one myself but just couldn't make it happen.

This is the library. We made a bean bag to match the ones in our library, found some mini ABC blocks to decorate with and refinished the rocking chair I found at Di and sewed pillows for it! After getting tired of so much staining, my friend Nina helped me pick out lanolium for the floor - and that was soooo much easier!

The sled was from DI too and when I found it I just had to have it all the wall - it is so cute!

My mom helped me do this room and made the bed spread, pillows and curtains. I found the dresser at DI and built the lamp myself. Karly loves this room.

The living room was so fun to do. NOONE sells couches unless they are for Barbies or of plastic. The real miniatures were just too small. So with a box, small knobs, material and foam - Mike and I went to work! The fireplace was so fun and we used a picture of our family for the mantel. One of my cute 13 year old neighbors helped me with the piano! We have lots more to do to fill up the entertainment center, but that will come in time...

My mother in law made this chair for the living room and it matches perfectly!

I think the kitchen is my favorite place. Probably cause it has the most details. I had to do all of it from scratch - so it took the most time. Used pebble spray paint for the granite counter tops, shelf knobs for the legs and wheels for the seats. Found an old box of glued in dishes from the DI and cleaned them up for the cute dishes in the cupboards. She loves playing with them!

Ruby (my 13 year old friend) hand made all of this food! You can not even begin to see all the detail, but she does it all with clay and then bakes it. We have pizza, milk, cupcakes, cookies, banana's and veggies - all the right size! They are so amazing, its one of Karly's favorite things about the dollhouse.

The best part about doing this huge project for me was that it really helped me feel more love for my daughter. The whole family had a such a great time over the last few months doing this for her. Everyone knew she could never go in the garage and it became of family obsession of finding ways to keep her out. The boys were amazing! Thanks to Nina and Ruby and Steph for being such great friends and helping me so much in this journey. Mike - couldn't have done any of it with out you - thanks for being the head engineer babe.

I am so excited for Christmas this year! Or it might have to be for her birthday - depends on if I get it done in time. Mike and I are making her her very own dollhouse! I am kinda funny about Barbies (no offense Barbie Lovers!) but I am just not a fan of them. So I wanted to build my own doll house for her with my own size dimensions. I got the idea from my dear friend Stephanie Lund. She had all our Young Women build one at girls camp to donate to the Festival of Trees. It sold for $2400!!!!!!

So, with that, I came home from girls camp ready to make my own. I have been working on it since August - so it has been five months of serious fun for me. Now that it is almost done, I wanted to document my work!

So, today I am posting the pictures of ours from Girls Camp, to show what inspired me. It is so beautiful, I am only hoping mine can be half as good. I have made a few adjustments...we shall see!

Mikey just loves football and in turn our whole family loves it now. His team is in the play-offs tomorrow for the League Championship...he is so excited.

I just love this kid because he is so humble and kind, even when he plays football. He will attack like no other and tackle kids bigger than him to the ground, but then immediately reach out his hand to help them up. I couldn't have asked for better first son...he is an example to his brothers and I am so grateful for him. Good tomorrow my little buddy...

Kidney Stones...

Yah, I got em. Woke up last week in absolute horrid pain I thought my appendix was bursting. After an emergency room visit, 3 hours on IV's and a CAT Scan - the doctor told me I "wasn't giving birth to a baby, but Kidney Stones!" How nice of him to put it like that...he wasn't kidding.

So needless to say, my blog has slacked lately. We survived Halloween, just barely, and I didn't even hardly get pictures to prove it...

First Day of School, again...

Joey got to start kindergarten this year! The only way I could get him excited was to buy him new shoes. Yah, he's addicted to shoes. Not toys, not treats, shoes. Regardless, those new Tony Hawks got him there so I am not complaining! Love that kid...

I didn't cry this year. Not because I wouldn't miss him dearly, but because I was so proud of him for being brave that I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. Thanks to a WONDERFUL teacher that everyone has nicknamed "Mary Poppins". I LOVE NICE TEACHERS! I still can't figure out why mean teachers even go into the job...

We are so crowded this year so Dallin gets to go to a portable classroom. I searched the internet and showed him classrooms of kids in African and pretty soon he realized how blessed he was...

I know I am biased, but I think these boys are soooooo handsome. Seriously, I just adore everything about them and think whomever gets to marry these kids someday is extra lucky. I can wear their shirts and shoes now, can't believe it. My babies are growing up. My only solice is I can still beat them in wrestling. Pretty sure by next year that won't happen anymore...

Its amazing how much we complain in the states about education circumstances. Given, I am an advocate for bettering education in every way, but sometimes when you step back and see how other countries struggle, it really makes you realize our blessing. We had a seriously grouchy parent this year over portable classrooms. Seriously? They are better than anything in Africa. Once I showed Dallin these pictures, the despair of having to go the "portable" was gone. It was turned into a lucky gratitude...

Crash Derby Time!!!!

Ok, so I do have to admit I was a little skeptical about going. Knew it would be fun but how trashy would it get, ya know? When all I can say is...

IT WAS AWESOME!!!! Besides a few beer drinkers and some random cleavage shots, it was a blast. My kids didn't notice those two things so I was glad and they just screamed and shouted the whole way through. Our local scout troop entered a car and we had fun cheering it on. The poor purple eater didnt get very far though...

We met up with quite a few local buddies and my kids were in heaven! Their mommy was way too into the crashing so my kids were glad for others to sit by I am sure. This is one of Karly's best little buddies...

We are a definate go for next year. Heck, Mike thinks he'll even enter the race...to be continued on that story.

You don't have to sell anything, just promise to host the party and give away the things they send to you. I LOVE IT! I finally got chosen last month to host a frebreze party and this is all the goodies I got in the mail. The square lanterns sell for $14 alone! Each of my guests left with $40 in free products and tons of coupons. It was so fun! Right now they are accepting applications for a Capri Sun party and Kraft parties!!!!! Yahoo for free stuff!!!!

Horseback Riding Lessons -

Words can not express how much I love Joey's Horseback Riding Teacher. Not only is she such a fabulous neighbor and wonderful friend, she is so deeply involved in the lives of the students that she teaches.

He needed so much something that was just his own, not like anyone else - especially his brothers. Not because they are not dear friends, but because he needed to be able to grow outside the shadow of 2 amazing boys. Horseback riding does that for him. Watching Laura work with Joey, teaching him to brush the mane or clean out the horseshoes, brings tears to my eyes. It is almost sacred for me. I don't know how to explain it. But to see the look in his eyes, the peace on his face and the confidence he has in his teacher - this is purely special to me.

Not only does she take the time to listen to his ever consuming questions and inquiries, she actually enjoys it. She laughs with him, encourages him, is gentle and non intrusive with him. She is everything my little Joey needs, and I couldn't be more blessed to be neighbors with her.

I wish everyone could be as lucky as I to live next to Laura.

Pottery Class!!!

We signed the boys up for a pottery class with a few of their buddies and they just LOVED IT!!! Both of the are very artistic and really enjoyed going each week and working with their hands.

I just love our school and all the good things that they offer. I was so impressed with what the boys made - their work was amazing!

My Little Soccer Buddies

This was my second season coaching and we just had a great time as the "Red Dragons"! You know, every little boy will be on a Dragon team some time or another. The best part was I got to coach my cute boys and lots of their neighborhood buddies.

I love all my boys friends and enjoy working with them, made for some busy weeknights but we did awesome!!!!

Cooking Time!

I love cooking. I love being in my kitchen and having lots of lovely helpers to assist in the process. On any given day I have all six stools filled with little neighborhood bodies sharing snack time with me. I have my place in the middle of the island and they all just seem to gather. Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

This time in particular I had some of my dearest friends children over and we had the funnest time making pretzels!

I even have lots of sets of aprons and baking hats to add the moment (thank you dollar store)! These little girls are just so adoreable, Karly was loving every second of it. So I would recommend to anyone, grab some aprons and my pretzel recipe on the side of my blog - and have a party! You get the best conversations of out these little people in times like this...

Karly just loves this doggy. Poor KC almost runs from her because she knows when Karly approaches there is going to be lots of hugs and kisses. I have often found Karly resting in the doggy bed! Here she is trying to make KC smile at the camera. All in all, I think KC loves the attention!

Bird Watching...

I LOVE BIRDS. Its sounds silly, but I always have. Watching them fly around the sky, especially in the large swarms and groups - it absolutely amazes me. They follow each other so exactly and precisely - I just think it is fascinating.

I remember when we were thinking about buying our house and we were standing on the lot. Then all of sudden I heard this loud barking noise and was immediately bummed out - thinking we hard a neighbor with a loud dog. I turned around to my surprise only to see TONS of geese flying over head and calling to each other. I soon learned that our lot buffers the preserved wet lands in our area. Seriously, that was the like biggest selling point to me and we snatched the lot right up!

Three years later, I never cease to enjoy looking out my large living room windows to watch these birds enjoy life. They eat the bugs out of my grass, hang out in the big trees, and annoy the life out of my yorkie.

So, this post is only for me, to remember one of the most favorite things that I adore about living in my house. Its the birds...

Our School Chess Club

Our boys have loved going to our school chess club every Thursday morning. Its their second year in a row and its awesome! My friend Sasha runs it with her husband and does an amazing job. They really have learned so much and moved up ranks a ton (I didn't even know chess had ranks!). Dallin became a Knight this year and Mikey became a King.

So many kids come each week, they have over 100 participants from all different grades.

Mike and I went to the last day of class so we could see them receive their medals. Great job boys!!!! My little smarty pants...

(P.S. it was pajama day at school this day, just so I clarify that we don't look like this everyday~!)

We had a fun Leprechaun come and visit our home. Little stinker made a huge mess. But at least they got green clothes so they wouldn't get pinched at school! He even left them fun green treats to bring to their classmates...what a nice guy (or gal...) he was!!!

FHE Unity

I do not know why I haven't thought of this before. But we were diving into the boys Faith In God booklet to start passing off things so they can get the Square Knot for scouts and we came across the activity of having them do their own Family Home Evening on the Prophet Joseph Smith. I thought - Perfect! I won't need to plan one tonight!

Well, it was so much more than that. As Mikey and Dallin scurried away to the living room to plan their special night I was amazed at how sweet they were to each other and how well they worked together. Even after they were done planning it the sweet spirit remained. Then the evening came and they were so excited to share their thoughts, stories and testimony of the Prophet Joseph. I couldn't believe how much they had remembered from what we had taught them and from what they had learned in Primary.

Dallin played Book of Mormon Stories and Mikey led the song, with perfect formations and beat! I owe all of this to our amazing piano teacher Chelle - oh how I love her! Then they proceeded to include all the family in the evening with different assignments. Joey beamed when they asked him to give the prayer and Mike was in charge of dessert. Mikey conducted so well and Dallin hosted a wondered activity that he learned from Conference this weekend! The experience where they gave kids candy and asked them not to eat it and then followed them through out the years and noticed those who waited had more patience. Well that is exactly what he did using his own Easter candy.

I was so impressed that tears were in my eyes. I KNOW that FHE brings family's together, but I never imagined the blessing that would come from giving our children the responsibility of hosting their own evening. Unity, genuine love for each other, kindness and happiness were overflowing.

We will definately do this again, but not just for scouts, for us.

The Temple

Was a really heavy week this week. So many things to worry about and I just felt like I was so emotionally tired. Nothing I can't handle but just felt "heavy". I was going to head off to the Temple but was having a hard time getting there. Thanks to my wonderful husband who helped push me out the door - I finally got there.

I can't even explain the feelings that I had as my car approached closer and closer. I could literally feel my heaviness being lifted from my shoulders and as I sat it the parking I was overwhelmed at how peaceful I felt. Once inside my body felt so free of burdens that I literally felt weak - does that make any sense? I was so full of gratitude for this "tender mercy" from my Heavenly Father. I just needed a small break from worry and that's exactly what I got. No changed, nothing was solved, but I was lifted.

I am so grateful that we have Temples to find peace in...

My deadly Costco run...

Seriously, every time I try and attempt a "family Costco trip" - I leave feeling like "Why on earth did I do that?!!!!"

I hadn't taken the whole crew in awhile so Mike and I thought we would try it out again, shop a bit and grab some yummy pizza. But low and behold - WHAT WAS I THINKING?!!!

Here is the run down:

Try to shop but kids want to watch the TV's so we split up and do our thing separate (whats the point of going together again?).
We get back together with the exact same items, should have cordinated I guess.
Get our pizza and arrive at the table, boys are being silly and the people behind us keep starring at them.
I finally call them out on it cause I can't stand people who stare at my kids!
They feel bad and try to make small talk - kind of awkward.
Then I feel bad and try to be nice back, should have just kept my mouth shut as usual.
Kids start fighting and calling each other "POOP" names - classic.
One boy drinks too much soda and pukes on the floor.
While we are cleaning it up we get more fighting on the side. Positive we are getting lots of stares but too busy to care.
Karly slips off the bench and whacks her head so hard. Loudest noise, whole room seems to stop to see what happened. Piercing screams come from Karly.
As I am holding her I feel something wet streaming down my brand new pants. Apparently Karly didn't see the need to keep her diaper on when she changed her clothes for the 2 time that morning and I didn't see.
Getting even more stares now.
Squat down holding a crying baby and try to clean up pee on the floor at the same time while Mike is gathering the rest of the crew who is so worried about Karly. All I can say is get out to the car as fast as you can!
Leave Costco after making the best scene ever with pee all down my clothes and trying to keep wet Karly warm with my sweater as we head out into the cold.
Have to put Karly in Mikes new truck - who needs the nice new smell of a brand new truck anyway right? We are just wearing it in.
Get home - EXHAUSTED!!!

So, needless to say, I am retiring from Family Trips to the local Costco...

My mom is a firm believer in curtains and has really help me value their appearance in homes. She makes all her own and they look so good! So, with the help of my fabulous neighbor Jane, we went to work to see how we could spice up my living rooms. I love these ones the best because they were so inexpensive!!! The gold swags were hand-me-downs from my great mother in law and the textured ones were on clearance at Walmart - $5 each! Finally my long 72 inch rod is from Ross - the BEST place to buy curtain rods - $20 compared to $60 every where else!

Small windows look great with a small covering and stuck in place by the $2 window brackets at Wal-Mart. I love using them cause I can install them myself and can take them down whenever I want!

Trying to get "manly" curtains for Mikes office was tricky, so I used some pins, 2 curtains spliced in half then sewn together and some rubber bands - wal lah!

These were so fun to do because Jane was so creative and helped me do it all. She just kept wrapping and folding until they turned out right. She was so sweet and gave me all the cream swags because they were left in her house when she moved in and she didn't like them! I love HAND-ME-DOWNS!!! We found these hooks at RodWorks (great website at rodworks.com) for only $3 each - such a steal.

I have had so many comments from friends about my posts of my house - so THANK YOU!!!! I even had a fun visitor this week who was a sister of a college buddy who popped over and wanted to see inside - so fun! Thanks for being so nice to me in my journey of decorating on a budget!!!

Large pictures of my kidlets are some of my most favorite things. So wanted to pass on the details of where to get them CHEAP!

Walgreens is one of my favorites for 1 hour printing and I only use them when they have sales - which is all the time. I love them because they allow you to print in "true digital" print which is a 4 x 5.3 and doesn't cut off any edges. They offer amazing things there.
Costco is still a favorite of mine even thought their print images aren't as nice. I usually have to fiddle with the photo and make it lighter than expected because Costco usually prints them darker. But you can beat their prices!!! My 16x20 prints were only $5.99 for posters. I love them. Also, they have the cheapest collage prints around. 8x10 and 11x14 are only $2.99 and you can pick background color and title.

These 12x18 were only $2.99 too! We had an Family Home Evening on how much we love it when our kids are happy and smiling. Then we had them search the house for these frames and hung them up in their bathroom so they could see how great they look when they have smiling faces. It turned out to be a wonderful activity, I would totally recommend it!

I have posted this before, but picnik.com (thanks Liza) is so wonderful! And its free to basic users. I signed up for the $24 a year fee cause it gave me lots more access. But you can do anything you want to your pictures - add words, redder lips, lighter skin, frames, etc... and it is so much easier than photoshop (for me anyway).
I also love Artscow.com! I get soooooo many canvas prints, books, and about anything else you can think of for photos through them. Once again, I don't buy normal priced things, but only the sales, which they do almost every day. If you sign up you get 1500 free photos!!! Love this site a ton.

Wall quotes are some of the most helpful things for me as a mommy. I can see them constantly and am reminded often of their sweet messages. They help me everyday. Mikes cousin Jenni prints these for me and I adore her work! You-said-it.com is a great place to get ideas and she has amazing prices.

This sign I bought at Roberts and had to use my 40% off coupon, but it was worth it. I love seeing it in my living room.

I am always trying to be grateful for my lot in life. As I do my dishes I read this many times a day. My sweet neighbor Jane helped me with the curtains and had the ideas for bows - I would have never thought!

I love this wall! My dear friend Erin did it in her sons room with orange, green and cream and I just had to do it too. I shopped at Roberts and Michaels for the letters, picked 4 colors of paint, and found one drape panel that I loved from Ross. You use the extra fabric to add accents to each letter, making it unique.

I wanted to display my kids artwork in the same room, so I used the same paint colors to match the wood frames (Roberts), then used once again the scraps from the curtain to make ribbon. You can update the pictures as your kids get older (I still have some holes to fill!).

All I needed was some valences here, so I cut and spliced the one curtain that I got and sewed away. It cost me $7 for all the material for the whole room. I even had some left over to make 2 decorative pillow cases for the bean bags!

Dollar store frames, fun stuff from yard sales, and signs from Roberts was a great way for me to accent the top of our book cabinet. All the colors go with the ABC wall.
My favorite thing to see in the morning is all my boys laying on the bean bags reading in their library, waiting for me to get up. I always remember how President Hinckley used to talk about the library he has in his home, and that it gave him a love for learning. I am hoping I can do the same...

Inexpensive Creations...

I am determined to decorate my home on a budget, so I don't go broke and don't cry a river if my kids accidentally wrestle into it - which happens on a consistent basis.

My thoughts come as I sit and stare at empty places and realize I am tired of seeing it so empty. I start my search of the right piece - at my favorite inexpensive places (Ross, Walmart, Michaels, Roberts, Tei Pan, etc...)

This adoreable green vase was at Tei Pan and I fell in love with it. Its a deeper shade than my walls, but in the same color scheme. I had no idea what to put in it but got it anyway. Then I searched high and low for the large Gerber Daisey - which are some of my favorite. Michaels and Roberts are my favorite for these flowers - but you have to be careful cause they only sell these colors in the spring. When I realized what I wanted, it was winter, so I had to wait for them to arrive. But I do love them!

Rounded windows are really tricky. I am still not satisfied with these, but wanted to post how I control the light in here. I purchased from Joanns the light blocker material and a crib sheet (same one that is one the crib) for $10 total. After some ironing and sewing, I matching them up and hooked them to a really simple curtain rod from Ross (favorite place for rods) with the rings that hold them together. Now I have the light blocked when I need it but can open them easy with one arm - and they match as if I ordered them from the same company as the bedding!

The wall above the closet was the hardest for me to figure out. At first I painted 3 canvas pieces for it, but after awhile realized I am no Michaelangelo - bummer. So I came up with this. I covered the canvas (10 for $15 at Michaels) with a coat of paint then cut scrapbook paper to match it. Stamped/chalked the edges of the paper to add some color, then got more of the daiseys (sale at Roberts for $1.50 each) - chopped off the stem - and hot glued away. I was very pleasantly surprised on how they turned out!

This creation was my first one I ever did in our house, finished it before the carpet was in. I used darker shades of the wall paint (Horseradish from Sherman Williams) to paint the grass. I was so nervous cause I never paint walls well. So I ended up using paint tape to create the grass molds, painted them in, then slowly peeled it off when it was alittle wet. This helped the edges leak alittle bit which added to the leaf look. After one coat was dry, I did another layer of grass with an even darker shade. I was going to make my own flowers but found these on www.butterflycraze.com (Heart to Heart) and just love them. I adore this website and am always waiting for their sales. One is going on right now and you can get the flowers for $2 and $4 each - a steal!!!! All their items have the same color scheme so whatever I order matches. Perfect girly website...

Our hearts are filled with sadness as we have watched the suffering in Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake. We turn to the example of Jesus Christ who reached out to “lift up the hands which hang down” and “strengthen the feeble knees.” We are keenly aware that many in America are dealing with economic challenges caused by the recession. However, we are appealing to members to donate to Church Humanitarian Services as their means allow in order to help our Haitian brothers and sisters. Many have already contributed and others are anxious to do so.

Money is not the only need in Haiti. People are frightened, bewildered, and wholly uncertain about their future. In addition to what people can do in helping with food, water and shelter, there needs to be a calming influence over that troubled nation. We invite our people everywhere to supplicate God for a spirit of calm and peace among the people as urgent aid and reconstruction efforts continue.

its called picnik.com and my dear friend Liza introduced me to it. I am addicted!!! I have photoshop elements but for some reason my senses haven't kicked in and its hard for me to figure out. This sight is so easy and so much fun, you can do almost anything with your photos!

Main services are free, but to upgrade to all services is only $25 a year. If you like messin with your photo's - this is the way to go. My favorite for printing poster sizes is Costco by far ($5.99 for 12x18) and collage prints as well. Walgreens is fabulous for all other prints and services, open 24 hours and prints them in digitally correct format so you don't lose the top and bottom of your print. Inkley's is pretty awesome as well. Happy photoing!!!!

Its been weeks since I have posted, I guess I am still trying to recover from the Holidays. Always busy doing something. Some of my thoughts -

Kids are back to school and I miss them. Those boys are growing up too fast. I always challenge them to a wrestling match and so far I can still win. Once I lose I will have to give up the rank "my little boys."

Karly and Joey still adore our little doggy. Almost too much. KC runs from them now and hides under the chair or begs to sit on my lap. Hey, who ever heard of to much love? She's almost potty trained - yippy skippy!

Reorganizing the house, like I always do in the new year. Todays jobs are arranging Karly's bows (I know, shouldn't be a big job but when she has a grandmother like my mom, the bows are never ending. Too bad her mommy is too tired to put one in everyday...) and my make up drawer. So fun! I actually bought tons of new makeup cause Fresh Market is clearancing all their stuff out so I got awesome deals, kind of fun!

Planning our annual Disneyland trip and loving every second of it. Kids can't wait and have almost filled up their sticker chart for extra Disneyland days! We bought 5 day passes but told them they can only "get" 3 days, and have to earn the other two. So far its worked magic in our house...

Well, I am off to check on Karly who is chasing KC upstairs, she might need rescuing (the dog I am mean).

p.s. Just saw Julie and Julia. For some random reason I just loved it! Maybe its the whole blogging thing and you wonder where your words are going as you send them out into the universe, or her love of cooking, I don't know. But its a good watch.

Happy Anniversary!

This week Mike and I got to celebrate our 11th Anniversary. The funny thing is I told my girlfriend Natalie it was our 12th until Mike reminded me otherwise...I guess I am getting old. We went to dinner and then spent forever wandering around Barnes and Noble reading books and laughing - so simple but so enjoyable. (notice the diaper on the ground next to us...so classic)

I honestly can say that I just love being married to this guy. He is so perfect for me and all my ups and downs. I couldn't be more grateful to have him in my life. So many highlights of my life have happened with him:

*College life we shared together
*Mission life we kept in touch
*4 kids have blessed our home
*Moving 7 times about killed us
*Law School was one of the best choices we ever made
*Our first home was a dream come true
*Our final home is the dream I didn't know I had that came true
*A yard helped us work side by side for WEEKS - totally worth the farmers tan
*So many wonderful friends that we have crossed paths with together
*Callings have helped us support and encourage one another
*Lots of late night movies and brownie sundays have bonded us
*Wonderful family members have encouraged us through tough times
*Sacrificing, budgeting, vacations, homework, laughing, crying (always me), and serving the Lord has made our marriage even better.

I love you Mike and I look forward to the next 11 years: high school, dating, missions, colleges - am I ready?

Halloween Piano Recital

Mikey and Dallin have the coolest piano teacher. We love Chelle! Each Halloween she has a concert where all the kids have to dress up and play spooky songs.

This year she also had them come up with their own compositions. The boys did such a good job practicing and writing their music. Dallins was entitled "The Devils Song" and Mikeys was "Beware of the Haunted House."

They got to submit their music to the school Reflections program and got advanced to the next level! They were so excited - mainly for the cool medal that hangs in their room. I figure I want these kids to be well rounded, so music and sports seems like a good medium! I just want them to be able to play hymns on their missions - nothing fancy. Mikey now has the job of playing our opening songs in Family Home Evening!

Science Experiements!

Some times I wonder why I even set foot in the kitchen, regardless that I love to cook and love eating even more. After so many times of hearing "yucky!", "ewwww", "I WANT SOMETHING ELSE!!!", etc... You get kind of worn down, ya know?

Seriously, am I an idiot or does such things as Italian Chicken, Stuffed Chicken Crescents, Hawaiian Fajitas and Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread really sound that gross? I get them to eat Oatmeal at any given moment, so where did I mess up?

I think I need to take my kids to a foreign country for awhile and let them taste Jellied Pig Knuckles on Rye Bread (Denmark) or Fish Soup (China) - maybe they will appreciate me more.

Man, I am so wiped out tonight from tears at the dinner table. My reality - little stinkers....love em all, but they sure are picky.

Our new baby girl...

We finally did it and joined the ranks of dog owners all over the world. The kids have begged for years and I have been completely against it. Shedding is not my thing. Until my Aunt started breeding Yorkies - who do not shed - did I become interested. For months we talked about it and Mike finally got on board. He loves dogs but only big ones - but I was NOT ready for big dogs and big poop.

We got her two weeks ago and our kids are in heaven. Maybe too much. The poor thing never gets left alone, but she is so happy. She loves to eat socks and chew on Karlys nightgown.

Oh yah, and biting Dallin's ear falls into her favorite category too. We need to work on that.

I do feel like I have a baby again and finally get to rest when she goes down for her nap. Cleaning up the poop is my lease favorite job, so I am counting down the months till she is potty trained! All in all, she is so fun to have! We named her KC - the kids wanted to name her after Karly, and I said "No." Then they wanted to name her after me, and I said "No." So our initials are KC and that is what she became. I really wanted "Molly" for some reason - but they all shot that down...regardless, she is one dang cute dog!

Halloween Fun

I love to do Yoga, especially as I get older and my knees and back just don't work like they used to.

But so do my kids...can you tell?

I have to get up by 5:30 or 6:00 am, quietly - ever so quietly - sneak downstairs and start my workout. I am so careful to open up the tv console carefully so as not to make a sound.

But inevitably I hear little feet tapping upstairs through the hallway to see what Mommy is doing. I don't get how they hear me, but they always do. Whatever happened to kids wanting to sleep in? Probably will come when they have to start early morning seminary...

So today I let them join me. Was a bit hard to move around them and the toys, but they just loved it.

And quite frankly, after seeing the pictures, so did I.

Football madness...

Man, despite the "owies" we get, my boys still LOVE football. Dallin and Mikey talk about "plays" all day, they work out together, get ready for practice with excitement and come home sweaty and tired - still talking about it.

So far, with lots of prayers from me, our injuries are minor. I just read an article that persuades readers to feel this is just an awful sport for young kids - and I used to agree. But the comradery that has formed with their team, the acceptance they feel and the growth in their self esteem has really pushed me to now disagree. They love being apart of this band of brothers on the field and the loyalty that comes from working so hard together. I insist that Mike coaches so that they have an emotionally stable coach (some are crazy - I almost went off on a competators coach Saturday because he was so nasty, but decided I didn't need a fight in front of the kiddies...oohh, but he was a mean man).

We played against their biggest rival on Saturday (not the nasty coach though) - their own classmates who play on a different league. I wondered how they would feel about it and to my happiness they were so positive! They would say hi to each other before plays, then ram into each other has hard as they could, then help each other up. It was so awesome. It was the closest game EVER, but we ended up losing by one touchdown (14-20). I hoped they wouldn't be too bummed and as I went to congratulate them on a great game, all they could think of was running over to the other side to congratulate their buddies. THESE are the kind of boys I want - competative and hard working, but compassionate and good to other people. Ready to do what it takes to win, but not ready to give up friendships over it. The referee said our team has the best sportsmanship he had ever seen in a game. I think its the best compliment.

That day I couldn't have been prouder of them...

Me and sweet Noah...love this boy.

I can't even begin to say how fun our day was yesterday. The boutique was so awesome and we had the best turn out. Dear friends come from all over who love Liza and her family, as well as friends who have never met her but were so supportive. Tears were shed, hugs were given, and tons of support was lent to this amazing family.

Jesse is Liza's best friend who stayed over 12 hours helping us. Thank you Jessee!

We made these cute aprons to sell and they went flying! My whole house was transformed into "Twigs and Twine" decor. I wish it looked like this all the time...

We had so many wonderful things donated. Brooke J. made homemade quilts, all our gourmet candies, and tons of cake plates that went flying too. Steph L. surprised us with the coolest decorated witches - that we sold in seconds. Thanks Tami P. and Jenny B. for the yummy food! We love all you ladies...

All of these things are homemade by Liza. She is not only talented, she is a pure artist with fabulous technique. It was fun to see everyone's faces when they would show up and realize this wasn't your normal homemade stuff.

Keeping busy during General Conference!

We try new things each year to keep the kidlets busy as we try to watch General Conference together. We can't even begin to say how much we enjoyed it this year. The Apostles and Prophets shared such inspiring words and really uplifted us.

We loved FLOAM and the boys stayed busy all afternoon with it! Making ties, fishes, animals, and even flipping FLOAM "pancakes!"

He finally got a chance to spoil himself and I am so glad he did. His buddy from high school works for BYU and was able to get him tickets. He flew down to Texas with his work buddy and stayed the weekend there. It was one of the best games to be at - new stadium (that was seriously awesome), tons of fans, and BYU won when we weren't supposed too! GO COUGARS!!!!!

Mike and I felt like I needed to spend some more time with Joey this year before he starts the big Kindergarten. So I decided to teach him preschool from home! We converted a room downstairs to his Preschool and his little buddy Brielle does it with us. Her mom is my dear friend and helps teach. I love being with him and watching him grow...

My Scouts!

Mike and Dallin love the scouting program in our area and we have the greatest leaders (Thank you Jill, Katie, Jane and Laura!!!). They worked hard all summer and Dallin received his Bobcat and a bead towards his wolf. It was his first award and he was so excited - except for when they dressed him up like a Bobcat - but I thought it was so cute! Mikey received his Bear Award, got his gold arrow point and 3 silver arrow points. For each point you receive you need to do 10 extra scout activities, so he was really working hard!

Good job my little scouts - love these boys.

Sweet sayings of a 2 year old princess...

1. Mike takes Karly upstairs for bed. As he is changing her diaper she opens of her pink bling cell phone (fake of course) and calls her mommy:

"Mom, come rescue me!!!!"

2. At our football game yesterday I cut my finger and showed her. She looks at me and says:

"OOhhhhh. Mom, you got a bloody nose on your finger? A bloody nose?"

She just cracks me up! Maybe only funny to me, but never the less they needed to be recorded...

Our First Garden!

For Family Home Evening Monday we taught the kids about "The Law of the Harvest." We likened it to their testimonies and how blessed they will be if they work hard at their relationship with their Heavenly Father. We then took them out to harvest our garden and to see the fruits of their labors!

Not everything turned out perfect - like some of our carrots had serious issues, but they were still edible! Next time we need to weed them out alittle more to get away from the "alien" look.

The boys loved digging the carrots out and could hardly carry the bucket.

Our corn didn't work to well - clearly. Actually, it didn't work at all...we will have to work on that next year.

Some of our yummy Roma Tomatoes! We actually don't eat alot of tomatoes unless its in fresh spaghetti sauce or salsa. But we could live off of Mike's homemade salsa, so this should get a us a few batches worth!

She loves her mini carrots. They were just her size.

Joey loves to pick things. Finally our squash was ready (and so yummy by the way, had some for lunch today!) and was so happy he got to pick it. He has picked a few of our watermelons early (we didn't have the heart to tell him it was way too soon) and wondered why they were green inside...poor little guy.

I would recommend a garden to anyone! It was easy, VERY inexpensive, and extremely fulfilling to see things grow. Our kids loved getting the watering job each morning verses dishes and eating fresh sugarsnap peas for breakfast. Can't wait for next year to try our hand at it again!

Last week I got some bummer news. My Mom was diagnosed with Color Cancer. After my Dad was diagnosed earlier this year as well, it came as a surprise. All the while I felt strangely at peace with the news. Monday she went in for surgery to remove all the cancer they could find and she has been in the hospital for a few days. We have been waiting for the lab results to see if and where the cancer had spread. And then my Dad called this afternoon -

They got it all!!! There is no more sign of cancer!!! I am elated for my sweet Mom, who was so positive and update through this little ordeal. Love her for that.

Deal Diva!

Well, my girlfriend calls herself that ("Deal Diva"), but I am copying it for a moment. I am so proud of myself! I am not actually a shopper, never have been. I usually get my kids clothes from really cheap places and rarely even spend more that 5-10 bucks for an item. But I had some coupons today and decided to hit the little local mall to see what I could find. I left there with $502 dollars worth of clothes and only spent $113!!!! I was so proud of myself! I got 27 pieces of name brand clothing (including the shoes and outfit Joey has on even though it was for winter...)for an average price of $4 each. Anyway, just had to post my deals, we should be good until the next kid grows out of something!

Often this is the backyard scene at my house. I love this picture because Mikey and his two neighbor bud's were thirsty after a fun ride and came in for a drink. I glanced out to see these bikes all parked in a row. I love to hear little motorcycles getting fired up and watching all the boys go off our home made jumps, they have so much fun. Mikey and Dallin always know the drill before they ride - helmet, jeans, longsleeves, and heavy shoes...then off they go. Love that so many neighbor buddies like to ride with them!
This is what happens though when you try to teach a four year old how to ride a 50cc. Mikey started when he was 6, but I guess Joey acts holder, cause we thought he was ready...
Mike tried to chase after him as fast as he could once we realized that Joey had forgotten where the break was. He climbed right up the hill, missed the fence by a hair and then crashed through my tomato plants.
It broke my heart when he came running to me sobbing, not because he was hurt but because he was so devastated that he ruined my plants. I made sure he knew after that, that my garden meant nothing compared to him - poor little guy.

And by the way, Mike re-propped them up on their bases and we have still gotten a huge crop of Roma's after all! We are waiting to teach Joey about dirtbikes till next season...

Dallin was baptized this summer and we are so proud of him. He was so brave and handsome and already has such a strong testimony of the Gospel. I love it when his Primary teachers come tell me what he says in class, they are amazed at his knowledge and so am I!! Sister N and Sister S are the best teachers and he learns so much from them. He enjoys church all except when he is the only boy in class - HATES THAT! In high school he will love it I am sure...

The Goodness of Home Teaching...

So often you hear that word and frown because you have done it yet and feel guilty or don't even want to do it and feel worse. Yet I am blessed to have a fantastic hubby who truly "believes" in home teaching and its power. This week in particular we got to see the fruits of this inspired program and how it truly blesses families.

A few years ago Mike got a new assignment and I was alittle taken back when he came home and told me of his first visit. The gentlemen opened up the window with no shirt and hollered "What do you want?!!!" Mike, unafraid, let him know who he was and what he was doing on the doorstep and set up a time when he could come back. LONG LONG story short, Mike faithfully visited this family for months and after a while the husband started to join the wife and daughter. The whole ward joined in the effort of loving this family into participation - The Bishop, Relief Society President, and Primary all worked diligently together to help this family feel welcome.

After a long time we saw miracles happen. I still remember the day I watched that same big gruff man stand in testimony meeting and bear the simplest and most genuine testimony I have almost ever heard. Then the day came we got the phone call that they had made it to the Temple and would be sealed together as a family forever. Mike still feels this honor to attend was one of the sweetest experiences of his life.

Then this week we got another phone call. Brother Keele, at age 52, had passed away from a short and unidentified illness, leaving behind his boys and wife, and a young daughter still at home. When Sister Keele called Mike he was amazed at her strength and comfort as she was suffering, and she immediately commented it was because of her Temple Sealing that she was so peaceful.

Mike had the honor of speaking at his funeral yesterday and relaying this wonderful story of change. How a grown man in his habits and customs, saw things that would make his life happier. He had the faith to make dramatic changes towards righteousness and faithfully lead his family to do the same.

If you ever wonder if Home Teaching is really important, or just a job that keeps us all busy, I testify even stronger than ever - that HOME TEACHING changes lives. It lifts people and assists their families in coming closer to Christ. All it takes is the courage to go each month and the love to make true friends. Those who faithfully engage in this work of the Lord will be blessed forever. We have seen it...

Surprises in my grocery cart -

When Mike and I used to go grocery shopping as newlyweds he was always sneaking Dorito's or Oreo's into the cart. I had no idea the items would just keep piling up once little kidlets came to be! So its a must that I scan the grocery cart as I unload or I make it home with serious extras that are of no consequence.

Today though, Joey won. I was so careful as I unloaded at Walmart - took out 5 sneeky things that were not supposed to be there. But as I was soothing crying babies, wiping up spilled Gogurts near the check out stand and picking all the items that kept falling off the convaer belt because I stacked them too high - this one got past me...

SPONGEBOB Termomater!

Seriously, I haven't even looked at my receipt but I am sure this thing was at least 10 bucks just for having SPONGEBOB on it. Now I need to go wait in the return line because my four year old master mind beat me today. We did buy SPONGEBOB Mac and Cheese though (which I approved), something I would have never dreamed giving to Mikey, but hey - I'm on my fourth kid - its all about survival.

Childhood buddies-

Sometimes all you need is to visit with an old childhood buddy who seems to know all about you even though you aren't neighbors anymore. You don't even really have to know the details of each others lives because you know the core about that person. So when you do get together it all just seems to fall into place and you don't have to do alot of explaining or preparing. You are who you are and who you have always been with that person - and that is a child hood friend. Comfortable. Easy. Unsuperficial. For Real. Dedicated. Simple. Fun.

CREATIVE KIDLETS!!

Wherever we go and whatever we do, my kidlets come up with a fun adventure in their little minds to carry out. Some are funny and some are just darn upsetting. But once again I say, "Dont get mad, take a picture!"

Karly found the dress up's and galloped all around the kitchen in pure delight as the cowgirl with disformed wolf hands.

And her awesome toilet fiasco happened while I was trying to have a Young Women's Meeting at my house...those always seem to go well! We usually get something accomplished after about 3 hours. Thank goodness those fantastic gals I work with helped me laugh over this one.

We love to go to a local man made beach and this particular time Joey and his buddies made their own "hot tub!" We thought it was quite adorable. Another one of Joey's addictions? HOT tubs. He will sit in mine forever and when I say hot and I am extra serious. I have to turn it down when he is not looking and he will always sense that its not hot enough. His tolerance is really high or he has no feeling in his legs - not sure which one yet.

As each new year rolls around I count the minutes I get to see my kids name listed on the door of the school under which new teacher they will have. Every kid comes home with the one that they want who looks "nice" in the hall or the one they don't want (whom all the kids talk about at recess). Our school does not allow you to choose your teachers and so its always the luck of the draw. I am not terribly picky with personality as long as they can mesh with my child well and my kids feel safe in the classroom - by far that is the most important thing to me. So I prayed my guts out this year in hopes of the best teachers for my boys because they really need a good year. Our move hasn't been the easiest on them and making deep friends has taken alot longer than expected. So anyway we just needed a good experience this time around. So I walk up to the school last week and BINGO!!!!!

Mikey got my cousin who teaches as the school and whom I have watched grow up and adore like a sister! I can not be more excited for him and I am going to spoil her to death. Plus, all the kids at recess thinks she is so nice!!

Dallin got a teacher I did not know about and then my girlfriend found out who we had and told me she was so jealous! She had the best things to say about her and then when we got home from vacation Dallin had a letter in the mail from her letting him know how excited she was to have him in class - so awesome.

So, most of my fears are now laid to rest as we approach the 09-10 season of school, now I just have to worry and "The Birds and The Bees" talk, not forgetting money for school lunch, and hoping Mikey doesn't start to notice girls any time soon...just the easy stuff.

Fun in the Sun

We love to sit in our backyard and watch the birds fly all around us. Since we finally have our grass its even better.

A few Sunday's ago I got a visit from my Mom and Aunt Steph who is just like a sister to me. Loved being with these ladies!

Karly loves this rock in our "soon to be flowerbed." She sits on it and sucks her two fingers - she is just so darn cute! Love summer time!!!

Our Pets...

For forever my boys have asked us for a doggy, but heaven knows I can only potty train one child (or animal) at a time. So for now its a NO. But we thought of all the possibilities and dove into the world of birds. We love it! Each morning Karly asks to see the "Tweet Tweets" and then proceeds to see if they will give her a HIGH FIVE. Silly girl. They sing all day and I just love the sound. My bird cage find was the kicker, I fell in love with it and insisted I needed birds to go with it. Thanks Mom!

Dallin got a frog for his birthday so of course we had to go buy all the good things to make it have a happy and enjoyable life. Watching it eat crickets is our new found fun time! But all in all it helps the kids know how to take care of something that depends on them, and we love it for that reason alone.

We miss you Seth...

One of my little brothers best buddies passed away last week, and we had the blessing of going to his funeral in California. Dallin, Rex, and Seth have been buddies ever since they were little boys. We lived right next store to his family and he lived at our home. My parents adore him and he was staple at our house for breakfast. Seth was such a blessing in our lives. They great thing about him is that he defied all odds. He was born with the inability to great Red Blood Cells and was not supposed to live past age 2, yet he made it to 27! Every three weeks for his entire life he had to go in and get a full blood tranfusion. Dallin used to go and drive him there and play games with him all day while they waited for the transfusion to be complete. This condition also added to disformaties in his body which inhibited growth among so many other things. Now, living with God, Seth's body is whole and compete. We miss this sweet inspiration that made our whole family better people...

All of us here were in our church youth group together (missing a few buddies) and Seth's brother, Josh (in glasses) was my buddy. He was so amazing at the funeral.

Rex and Dallin had many tender moments...This one was my favorite.

I will have to say that I have never seen anything more closure to my heart when it comes to brotherly love than to watch two young men who diligently watched over and cared constantly for a sick friend for many years, then observe them as they willingly took shovels and helped bury his body into the earth. They never stopped serving our sweet Seth, yet they feel like he was the one who changed their lives completely.
